SOPHIA 33 - The Wolf in The Wool
Sophia 33 was, as a project, a challenge from the very start. The brand is not a part of the fashion world, but rather the clothes are the manifestation of a strong, authentic and uncanny personality, a homage to womanhood, tradition and contrast the brand acts as a powerful voice that tells a unique story in every piece.
The Sketches
The story started from the antithesis of sheep vs wolf, wool vs latex, industrial vs rural, mass production vs handmade. Opposites attract and we wanted to take this further in a tactile sense. The model had to be featureless, covered by a latex mask, our faceless queen expressed herself in her own pastoral world, a stage in a stage setup that told more than one story at a time.
The Inspiration
The Collection
Every piece in the collection is unique, and made entirely with organic merinos wool. The sculptural androgynous design is adorned with traditional and regal motifs.
The Visuals
In the background, the industrial sewing studio reveals itself as a prop, another contrast, the "now" putting the "then" in a powerful perspective.
The Editorials
The Rococo backgrounds created in the 18-th century by Jean-Honore Fragonard offer a spectacular link to "the simpler times" , the queen rules over a feminine world, a time before time, before civilisation, before predators and preys, a fairy tale world of innocence and exuberance.
