BRANDING, COMMUNICATION CAMPAIGN & ART INTERVENTION

For the 15th edition of the Open Festival, held in Venice during the Venice Cinema Festival and the Architecture Biennale (August 30 – September 30, 2012), HIPPOS created the entire branding and visual materials, under the concept of shouting for art, and also an art intervention for the vernisage of the event. The idea came as a direct reference to culture being less and less felt in modern life, so we developed it into an international manifesto-installation.

Visual Identity

When we scream, physiologically we can use only vowels. The visual designed by HIPPOS for the 15th edition of OPEN, is composed of a human figure shouting (made of circular lines reminiscent of sound waves) and the title of the event, which lacks vowels. Exactly! The text has only consonants. This sets the balance between the characteristics of the acute sound opening and the quality of language to communicate ideas.
